"Sound design by Lee Martinez Cruz, including popular songs and folk songs, ground us in an era that may seem materially distant, but is in fact, closer to our reality in sociological terms." - Lynn Felder, Cultural Voice of North Carolina, Black Rep’s Exceptional Cast Delivers Moving, Enlightening Fences by August Wilson
Transition Sequence
Act II Scene 2 into Scene 3
I chose period appropriate songs and sounds for the world of fences. It was especially important to read and research the script to analyze for specific sounds that would help support the time period of 1957.
Fairview (2024)

Transition Sequence
Act I Into Act II
This Transition sequence follows right after the character beverly faints from the stress of a birthday cake burning. I reporposed common house sounds and designed them into a unique transition.
I half-timed a phone alarm, reversed doorbells, added the siren of a kitchen alarm, inlcuded TV static, and added textures of cicadas

Transition Sequence
House Music into Act I
I organized this transition sequence to work seamlessly into a music track.
This sequence is organized by the sound of the beach in a surround system with waves crashing and utimately dissipating into a small speaker on stage that plays a song. The cue is organized into multiple sections to allow full immersion.

Sound Designer
One of my greatest tasks for the production of Fairview was concealing actors away from the audience but preserving their vocal-onstage presence. This consisted of setting up four of the actors in a vocal booth, and then projecting their voices live around the an audience
As the sound designer: I designed mutliple scene transtions on Qlab. I helped draft the sound system on AutoCad. I used EASE and Array Calculator with a D&B speaker system and Renkus Heinz speakers for ground speakers.

Performed foley for an animation and then edited and spliced audio to recreate sound and emotion for animated characters.
Logic Pro X Projects
Clown Act - Movement
This design project focused on a movement-based piece.
This prompted me with a design based on the interactions of the dancer. Allowing for an expression without vocalization.

Background Music
I composed original music in the theme of "BGM" music for experiences that explore different musical tones, tempos, and sound textures
